Woman on her computer

How long should your blog entry be? At minimum, blog posts should have 300+ words but 1,000 words is considered a bench mark for Google, some are now saying 2,000 words – just be sure to put in a lot of sub headings, bullet points, and photos to break up the text so your guests can scan.

Did you know this about blogging?

  1. It takes on average 3.5 hours*** to write a blog post (average length is 1,151 words)
  2. Blog posts that feature an image every 75-100 words get 2X more shares
  3. Content marketing is 62% cheaper than traditional marketing
  4. Having a blog increases your chances of ranking higher in search by 434%

Inns With Good Blogs

Blisswood Bed & Breakfast – Note the title of the blog matches what nearby city folks might be looking for – (Horseback Riding Ranch Near Houston) The perfect phrase to capture internet searches.

A Butler’s Manor – Kim writes about recipes and what’s going on in the area

Hartstone Inn – This very clever blog is entitled Maine Exclusive Travel Blog but when you read the topics they are all about the inn and its environs – as well as many recipes and photos.

***If you don’t have an extra 3.5 hours, but still need the huge marketing advantage of a blog on your website, engage our Librarian, Julie to write a regular blog post. To set up a beautiful blog with slots for great photos:
