Giant Troll, Maine Gardens

In the last few weeks, we’ve heard of some innkeeper websites getting hacked and wanted to share a few tips on prevention.

1) Never use ADMIN or ADMINISTRATOR as username or password on WordPress

2) Always have captcha on your login on WordPress

3)  Install a security plugin on the site like wordfence or Sucuri

4) Use a Password Protection system to create and store passwords for all systems and devices: LastPass is an option

5) Get malware protection, and firewall protection through your hosting company. Most of these systems fight attacks and will repair and fix your site if you are attacked. Sucuri is a good one. It is the protection offered by GoDaddy. If you happen to have your domain and hosting there, you now have a one-stop plan for domain, hosting, and security.

If you need help with any of this or a security audit, contact our office with this email Concierge@iloveinns.com
